Dr. Kaczander recently returned from attending the prestigious American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) Annual Scientific Conference, whereby, he was installed as the President of the Michigan Division of ACFAS, a three year, elected term.  He was also reappointed for another 3 years as faculty for the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.

Once again, MFAC docs leading the way

February has been an exciting month at the Michigan Foot and Ankle Center.  Drs. Faley and Galea once again lectured to hundreds of podiatric physicians at the Great Lakes Conference in Dearborn, which is widely considered one of the premier podiatry conferences in the midwest.  Dr. Faley’s lectured was titled, “Staged Fusions: Complications of Foot and Ankle Infections.”  Dr. Galea was part of the Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Symposium and his lecture was titled, “Angiosome Concept and Mapping.” Meanwhile, Dr. Kaczander, after 3 years as President-Elect, has assumed the position as President of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons – Michigan Division.  The 3 year elected position involves educational sessions and policies for all of the board certified…

Welcome aboard, Dr. Ohlgart

The Michigan Foot and Ankle Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Ryan Ohlgart will be joining our practice July 21st.  Dr. Ohlgart recently completed an intensive 3 year surgical residency in foot and ankle reconstruction.  He was chief resident in his final year.  He has extensive training in diabetic limb salvage and arthroscopic surgery.  Additionally, he has a strong interest in sports medicine, being a runner himself.  Dr. Ohlgart will be providing all aspects of foot and ankle care with confidence and compassion.  We welcome Dr. Ohlgart to our practice.  He is now accepting new patients.

MFAC docs leading the way

Drs. Kaczander, Galea and Faley were part of the prestigious faculty for the Great Lakes Conference, sponsored by the Michigan Podiartric Medical Association, at The Henry Hotel in Dearborn February 6th-9th.  Lecturing before 200 fellow podiatric surgeons (including Dr. Mehler), Dr. Kaczander moderated the surgical portion of the meeting and lectured on Lapidus / Opening Wedge bunionectomies and Satterfield-Jolly surgical procedures.  Dr. Galea was part of the PAD (peripheral arterial disease) portion of the meeting and lectured alongside vascular surgeons and cardiologists on lower extremity arterial anatomy, physiology and pathology.  Dr. Faley spoke on evidence based treatment for the treatment of non-union osseous healing.

Congrats Dr. Faley

A long overdue congratulations to Dr. Faley for achieving his board certification in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery this past August.  Being certified in reconstructive ankle surgery puts Dr. Faley in select company, not only in the Detroit area but nationally as well.  Procedures that Dr. Faley specializes in includes arthroscopy of the ankle as well as ankle replacement surgery.  Great job, Josh!
